When Artistic Vision Flourishes

As the new year approaches, I like to look back at goals and accomplishments before moving forward. This has been a year of reinvention for me, stemming from the need to go within. I know many of us have had that happen with all the changes in our current world. If you can relate, then you know that when the universe forces you to pause, then it’s time to listen and take note of what matters.

Part of this stance for me has to do with my own goals as an artist. At times we think we know where we want to go, but along the way, life presents us with unexpected turns and new adventures, and that’s okay too. These experiences have allowed me to learn and reassess my journey to see where I still want to go.

Going into 2022, I look to incorporate the following aspects even more into my practice.

Consistency matters

Naturally, there’s such importance in communicating with you, my art community. Because I am constantly creating, I love to share what I’m doing through my newsletters and social media channels in a way that matches my creative vision, so that you’re able to recognize my work and identify with it throughout.

Power of collaboration

I enjoy what like-minded individuals can do together for the greater good. I discovered how much impact could be made towards expanding opportunities for local artists in North Dakota. Currently, my heart and energy are predominantly focused on helping women and young people who are striving to be professional artists. The community has so much to offer and benefit from, and I’m happy to contribute to it as much as I can, with the possibility to expand our efforts further as we go along.

Creativity is vital

As a creator, I like to get inspired and turn those visions into tangible artworks. I look forward to letting certain moments and experiences inspire my process and technique even further. That’s where the magic happens! I’m open to seeing what comes of those moments, and you will see the results of that through the artwork I create.

What do you think of these goals? Yearly resolutions are great, but if I’m being honest, I rarely set them. I’m more of a fan of continually checking in with ourselves throughout the year to get a feel for where we want to go. In this manner, we are being kinder to ourselves. I believe if we start small, we can make the necessary changes like waves in the ocean. I’m excited for what’s to come in 2022 for all of us, and thank you for being part of our art community. I hope you get to accomplish all the goals in your vision. Here’s to a prosperous 2022. I have a feeling magical things are coming in the New Year, so wishing you all the best!

Cheers,
